DescriptionWe've all heard the term retail therapy, but did you know that shopping actually offers real health benefits? Spending time with other people makes us happier and less stressed, and shopping is an ideal way to combine physical and mental activity with social interaction. There's even research to back this up. Various studies have found a correlation between shopping, even window shopping, and increased levels of dopamine, a chemical released during pleasurable experiences which helps lift your mood. The benefits of shopping are even greater for older people. A Taiwanese study followed almost 2,000 elderly men and women for nine years and found that those who shopped every day had 27% less risk of death than those who didn't.
