General descriptionThousands of people in the world have the aspiration to become filmmakers, and each year, Australia produces hundreds more graduates who want to enter the film industry. But funding for films is scarce, and whether we like it or not, Hollywood still dominates the global movie industry. The box office share for Australian films in 2012 was less than 5%, and your chance of breaking into Hollywood is roughly 1,000 to one. To stand out and to get noticed, you need to find your voice and have something unique to say about the world. But talent alone cannot make you successful. If you don't have drive, resilience and focus, you have nothing. And if you're not prepared to get rejected 100 times before you get a yes, then you might as well give up now. And then there is luck. You just have to be in the right place at the right time.
