DESCRIPTION

DescriptionBrisbane hosted the XII Commonwealth Games in 1982, during which the Nathan campus was transformed into the Games Village and housed over 2000 athletes and officials. Construction of the Games Village accommodation commenced in 1979, and in the following year, 72 Griffith students moved into the new flats on the proviso that they would be vacated during the Games. Following the event, this accommodation became the residential colleges we know today as Barakula, Bellenden Ker, Girraween and Kinaba.
