Displayed here is a mid-1970's image of the Reading Pits at Nathan Campus. The Reading Pits (now the Goanna Lounge) are an informal study/reading area that were part of the foundation buildings, located under the Humanites Building and next to the library. The Reading Pits have always been used by students for study/reading, but the area has also been an important student meeting point to socialise. While today's area has changed considerably in both amenities and layout, the Reading Pits remain an important student hub for both learning and socialising.
