Professor Charles Presley - Foundation Chairman, School of Humanities
Professor Charles Presley was the foundation Chairman for the School of Humanities and commenced his appointment on the 1st January, 1973. Professor Presley was a keen advocate of Chancellor Sir Theodor Bray's vision of breaking down traditional university teaching practices and having course structure and teaching determined by addressing themes and/or problems prevalent in society. Professor Presley recognised the importance of providing a learning environment that encouraged students to exercise their imagination and be creative rather than being told what to think. Along with foundation Vice Chancellor, Professor John Willett, their concept of a creative arts workshop received government funding, and in 1975 Griffith University's Queensland Film and Drama Centre was established.
