Professor Arthur Brownlea was the foundation Deputy Chairman of the School of Australian Environmental Studies. Professor Brownlea was a strong advocate of the interdisciplinary approach to teaching and was an Australian pioneer in the area of environmental impact studies and medical geography (applying geography to the study of health and diseases).
