Professor Colin Mackerras is a fifty year incumbent University lecturer/academic, starting with the organisation in 1974 as Deputy Chairman of the School of Modern Asian Studies. Professor Mackerras continues his development of relationships between Griffith University and Asian institutions to this day by lecturing in both Australia and Asia. In this oral history, he discusses the challenges of establishing and then running the first such School of this kind at an Australian University.
