​The 1982 Commonwealth Games was held in Brisbane and the University was chosen as the site for the Games Village. The Nathan campus was literally transformed into an operations centre. The student residences housed athletes and officials, the University cinema showed new release movies, and the campus grounds provided a wide variety of live entertainment.
