​In May of 1984, the University accepted an invitation from the Australian Prime Minister to become part of a pilot program aimed at improving employment opportunities for women in Australia. This was the first such program of its kind in Australia, and further enhanced Griffith University's reputation as a tertiary leader and innovator.
