​The official opening of the new Queensland College of Art (QCA) at Southbank in Brisbane completed the final step for the University in addressing the compulsory mergers imposed under the Dawkins Revolution. Although officially part of Griffith since 1992, it had long been intended that a purpose built QCA would be established at Southbank to join The Queensland Conservatorium and complete the organisation's Southbank campus.
